There was another good turnout for the September blitz, held on 28 September, which marked the start of the new season: we will now be meeting every Thursday at the Bridge Centre. There was a healthy mixture of regulars, newcomers, and even a visitor who came all the way from Austria. Competition was tight, but nevertheless the winner was familiar: Jason Rawlinson, who was the winner in June and July, again surged through the field to come out clear winner on 6 points put of 7 (losing only to Zalan Nemeth). There was a three-way tie for second place, between newcomer Alfonso Jimenez, relatively new regular Zalan Nemeth, and very old regular Pete Morriss, all of whom scored 5 points. The rating prize was won, for the first time, by James Blackwell, on 4 points.
