Galway Chess Club, as organizers of the Galway Chess Congress, requires intending players to supply the following information, which is necessary for the orderly running of the Congress:

Their full Name.

Their Irish Chess Union membership number (if they are members).

Their Chess Rating if they have one (ICU if they have one; otherwise FIDE, another national rating, or, failing that, an on-line rating).

A contact address (email if available).

Galway Chess Club will store the above information exclusively for our own use, along with the section in which the player is entered, entry fees paid, and any requests for byes. This information will be deleted from our database after the tournament on written request.

Players agree that Galway Chess Club can pass their details and results to the Irish Chess Union after the tournament for the purpose of rating the tournament.

In advance of and during the tournament, Galway Chess Club will display the following Congress information about entrants on its web site:

Player’s Name.

Player’s Rating.

Section in which player’s entrance has been accepted.

During the tournament we will also display on the Galway Chess Club website every player’s score, results and their standing (round by round).

After the tournament, we will display in perpetuity a list of prize-winners (usually including photographs if we have them) and also the cross-tables and standings for the sections, unless at any time a player requests in writing that their name be removed.

A player may request deletion of any or all the above data held by Galway Chess Club and this will be processed in a timely fashion. However, any player doing so before the end of the Galway Chess Congress will be deemed to have thereby withdrawn from the Congress with immediate effect.
