June Blitz results
The June Blitz, held on Thursday 29 June, was a well-attended and closely fought event. First equal at the end were Jason Rawlinson and Brendan Buckley, with 5½ points out of 7. Jason went into the last round with a full point lead, but was then defeated by the March champion Fintan Hegarty; while Brendan, after a loss to Jason in round 3, won his last four games to surge into a share of first place. The rating prize was won by Pranav Phatak, playing in his first Galway blitz, with a fine performance of four wins and three losses, all of which were against the top players.
