Galway Club returns to Bridge Centre

Our summer sojourn at the Cottage Bar has now come to an end, and we are returning to the Bridge Centre (upstairs) until next summer.  We will meet there every Thursday from 7.30 (with the exception of a short break over christmas/new year).  We are starting off (on 19 September) with a blitz tournament: 10 minutes each per game.  Latecomers can be added in, getting half a point for rounds they missed.  Everyone is welcome, irrespective of playing strength.  If you are new to the venue, and don’t know where it is, a map can be found under “The Club” heading – or contact us at our email address or here if you have any enquiries.

We hope to see all the regulars back, and many new faces as well.

    Hi Sylviane,

Yes, we welcome 14 year old daughters – and their dads. You could try coming along this Thursday, if that would suit: we’re having a little blitz (fast chess) tournament. Failing that, the following week (26 September) there will be a less structured evening, with people playing friendly games against each other and she would be welcome then as well.

There’s also Galway Junior Club for you to consider. Their website is at http://galwayjuniorchess.com/

Hope to see you and your daughter in one of the coming weeks.

    All the best,

    Pete Morriss (Chairperson)
