Ballinasloe the centre of Irish chess!

Ballinasloe will be the centre of Irish chess this month.  On the final weekend in April the National Club Championships will be taking place there, and Galway Chess Club will be entering a team, hoping to improve on last year’s third place.  Two weeks earlier (11 to 13 April) the Irish Junior Championships will be held in Ballinasloe, with tournaments in all age ranges from under 8 to under 19.  So if you are under 19, and play chess, now is your chance to become an Irish champion!  Further details and an entry form can be found at http://www.icu.ie/events/forms/598.pdf.  Good luck: we’ll be following your progress.

  2. Please also remember that it is extremely important to drink plenty of fluids during suffer from lethargy, fatigue and confusion if they forget to eat and drink. It can happen. So please stock up on soft drinks and energy bars such as muesli or cereal flap jacks with some dried fruit and nuts when the going gets tough. Good luck to all.
